India 2024

This 14-day trip to a Himalayan village in April 2024 is shaping up to be our most thrilling and life-changing retreat yet with more time and experiences added to the existing itinerary.

India 2023

This 10-day adventure in April 2023 saw my clients experience the Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple and the Hindu shrines on the Ganges but what made it life-changing for them was living with local people.

India Retreat FAQ

  • From the very beginnings of human civilisation India has been a place of self-discovery, exploration and development. It’s a country whose religions rather than focusing on the dualities of good and evil have instead tended to concentrate on understanding and mastery over the mind. Throughout the ages great masters of the mind have lived and taught in India, particularly in the Himalayan region, making it a perfect destination to forward your own personal development journey.

  • India, for all it’s extraordinary offerings, is still an overwhelmingly different, unpredictable and chaotic environment, especially for those who are not used to this. If you are to get all you possibly can out of this wonderful wilderness you must learn to embrace all of these things. That said, the culture shock can sometimes be quite intense and having someone with 20 years in-country experience at your side from the moment you jump off the plane makes all the difference. It’s also important to note that India’s real wonders are to be found in it’s people. Phil has a bunch of lifelong friends from all walks of life that he wants you to meet and this will mean you will not just be experiencing India as a normal tourist.

  • India is often compared to Marmite. You either love it or you hate it! People that come away loving India often have certain characteristics or mindsets! They are people able to let go of their expectations of how things “should” work out or how things “should” be and allow India to teach them something new! Accommodation for my retreats in India are deliberately chosen with modern amenities and Western comforts but India can still be an intoxicating and sometimes overwhelming environment so you will need to be someone with a certain level of resilience (or at least be someone determined to develop this whilst in India!)

Bespoke retreats

Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape, an adventure-filled experience, or a combination of both, allow me to create the ideal retreat for you. Explore the various options on offer or share your vision with us, and we'll work together to make it a reality.

  • With phones off each day from nine in the morning until five in the evening, it's time to go to work on ourselves. Each day, from Monday to Friday, we explore a different theme in our own personal development. The beginning of the week is all about getting real about ourselves and shining a light on the areas in our life that are currently holding us back. As the week progresses, we develop individual action plans to put in place, ready and waiting for the moment we go back into our normal routine. These involve strategies and back-up strategies, and considering problems from every angle, ensuring changes in your life back home are guaranteed. This retreat is about putting in the time to work on yourself, but also lavishing yourself with high levels of self-care, with time in the pool, sauna, yoga, massage, along with music and dancing in the evening.

  • Get off grid and immerse yourself in a small back-to-basics community right by the sea. This trip is all about discovering how to live at a slower mental pace and learning that we don't actually need a lot of stuff to make us happy. To get to this community you have to cross the sea loch by the post boat or walk the Lord of the Rings-style path through the lush green mountains. Once there, you'll meet the eccentric locals who will teach you all about the way they live their lives using yellow water streams and electricity-generating windmills. Like the English Farmhouse retreat, this trip also involves time and support to go to work on what's getting in the way of change in your life. Everyone on this trip leaves with a detailed action plan so that life doesn't just go back to how it was before.

  • No excuses, no distractions, get that novel or screenplay written! Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, but only 30 minutes from the state capital and all the modern amenities a westerner could need, lies the retreat centre, Tarab Ling. This is where you, away from all the distractions and excuses of your daily life, will complete that project once and for all. If you're starting out from scratch, we will do a thorough analysis of your idea, complete with honest feedback from fellow writers. Together, we'll build a comprehensive strategy for getting you over the finish line. Having a coach to help you do this, and then keep you accountable with mini writing deadlines along the way, can make all the difference.

“Phil reminds me of Bruce Parry in that he will walk into a village, anywhere in the world, and just start talking to people. You don’t feel any threat or judgment from him - and that’s how it feels when he’s coaching you.”
