Live Life, Love Life
When deciding upon a new business venture, I met with Phil to figure out if this was the right decision for me. From our first meeting Phil got me really thinking about what it was that I wanted to do. Structuring my thoughts and priorities in a way that I hadn’t done before, he helped me focus on what was right and what mattered to me. Phil’s enthusiasm, endeavour and drive really helped me unearth clarity and confidence in what was a challenging period. Working with Phil was a real pleasure as he brings so much to the table. His passion is infectious and his engaging charismatic approach made the whole process very enjoyable.
When I met Phil I was looking for help in passing my Project Management exam at work. I was all about procrastination but Phil gave me a number of strategies to help me focus on the end result. Initially we talked about the benefits of achieving this qualification to up my motivation, which really worked. We then broke the exam sections down into manageable chunks which was massive in reducing the stress about the whole thing. To keep me going we set up a reward for finishing and passing the exam. I’ve still got the handbag to this day!
I was struggling with the direction to take with regards to work as I had recently lost my job. Phil got me to focus on thinking about myself and not worrying about what other people expected of me. He’s a great listener and makes you feel comfortable in talking about things.
Phil is eminently positive and finds the good in all situations and people, guiding the listener to this same outcome. There is no ‘airy fairy, not relevant to me stuff’ in what he says, just wonderful help and advice given, with the right tone and an affirming manner.
I came to Phil when I was undergoing a huge change in circumstances and lifestyle. I was going from the 9-5 rat race in Southern England to a remote off-grid croft in North West Scotland. Phil guided me through the “have I done the right thing” panics that ensued and taught me to notice the positives in the negatives. Having that support at that crucial time gave me greater composure and an ability to think things through in a more controlled way. Three and a half years later I am still crofting, which I may not have been without Phil’s help.
The foremost issue for me was a lack of direction. I didn’t know which career path to pursue and it was getting to me. Phil asked me questions that got me to explore what it was I really wanted from my life. But he also pushed me out the door and got me to go and experience the options available to me. Phil’s coaching made me feel good about myself and that I WAS capable of doing something. His sessions made me act up on my dreams and I’m pleased to say I found the road. He helped me figure out what I needed to do to be happy and I think that was amazing.
Phil has a friendly, confident air, that immediately puts you at ease. He’s also an excellent listener, giving you the space to talk. He’s good at engaging you with questions that get you thinking and keeps the conversation flowing with new ideas. He has a kind manner that allows you to speak and think freely, helping you get to the bottom of your issues. At the same time, he doesn’t let the conversation go off topic because he’s determined to keep you focused on the results you’ve asked for.
As a writer I was embarking on a new project to write a novel. I had plenty of ideas and material in theory but found it difficult to know what I wanted to do with it all and where I should start. This was stopping me from achieving anything. Together, using a wheel diagram, we broke down ideas and ambitions into distinguishable groups of tasks. This helped give me the clarity to see what it was I was trying to achieve and also revealed priorities, helping me decide where to start next.
Would I have finished my novel without Phil’s coaching sessions? I have my doubts. Would I have even started it? Not a chance. Setting goals and deadlines that involved someone other than myself was such a motivator. I felt like I was writing it for the both of us.
I was living with the loss of a very special person in my life when I met Phillip. I’d never had anyone listen properly to me before and in having this I was able to see the situation from a different angle. As a coach he is a blessing; the kindest, sweetest, loving soul; I would get up in the middle of the night in my pyjamas to save this man!
Phil really helped me to gain clarity and prioritise when I was juggling a number of things relating to what I wanted to do to grow my business. He was also a great sounding board for me to explore my ideas.
Every time I see Phil Vine, I come away feeling inspired, motivated and excited about my life. He has a way of getting deep down, underneath a problem and helping you to see through it and out the other side. Even when you don’t want to. He comes up with workable, comprehensive solutions and just makes things better. He’s incredibly likeable too - a kind thoughtful presence in my life. I feel lucky to have met him.
Phil was really easy to talk with and I found him so supportive. I had hit a dark period in my life and he helped me to highlight my strengths and focus a bit more on what was already good in my life - what I had already achieved.
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, stressed or lost, just thinking about my next session with Phil puts me in a more positive frame of mind. I guess it’s just knowing the support is available when I need it. I really like Phil as a person and feel relaxed in his company. It’s obvious he really cares about his clients.
